Ben & Jerry's NEW Coconuts for Caramel CORE

Image
I know Ben & Jerry's. You know Ben and/or Jerry. We all know Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and how they've consistently found new and intriguing ways to sell us various flavored ice creams. I'm pumped to try this, as I'm sure we all are whenever we swipe a new delicious flavor out that ice cold freezer. So let's get to this, and see if this is worth you trading your hard earned, factory sweat soaked cash in for. That's a hell of a roll call! Caramel and Sweet Cream Coconut ice cream with fudge flakes and a caramel core. As soon as the plastic top holder thing started krinkling, I got a friend who was suddenly interested in what was in my hands. Now with the top popped. We can see a giant glob of caramel. Remember this, this comes into play later. Jot it down in your official FatGuyFoodBlog Review Notepad. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, maybe I didn't fully read the pint print, but I was perplexed by the two different kinds of ice cream inside...

FROZEN HOAGIES SWEET SHOP

Image
FROZEN HOAGIES  SWEET SHOP in Somerville, MA This is a place i've been dying to get to since I heard about it. I mean, they make their own ice-cream cookie sandwiches! Amongst my memories of high school, the ones that haven't been necessarily repressed, are Chip-whiches. Two soft chocolate chip cookies clamped down on either side of a vanilla ice cream patty. This was my treat of choice quite often. I've had decent ones at restaurants in the years since, but a place where that's their SPECIALITY? We'll see. So the deal is: you choose your cookies, and you choose your 2 scoops of ice cream, and they slap it all together for you. They had about 5 or 6 cookies on hand to choose from (not as impressive as the over-all list on the website). No matter, I want to keep it relatively traditional for the first go. I decided on a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie cookie. Next best thing to a chip-wich is a brownie sunday, no way could this turn out bad. For ice cream I went ...

Cold Stone Creamery's New Blueberry Donut Shake!

Image
Cold Stone doesnt get the respect it deserves. With so many options it gets lost in the shuffle.  Did you know you can get a funnel cake topped with ice cream there? Perhaps youd be interested in a Churro Caramel CraveTM  instead?? Into dad jokes and bad puns? Try the Cookie Dougnt You Want Some or The Pie Who Loved Me. Theyre nothing if not creative. Which brings me to their newest delicious creation. Ive dipped French fries in milk shakes and blended full cake slices with milk shakes. Ive stirred around bowls of ice cream until they transform into a warm shake. But never have I ever replaced the traditional, and now pass, cherry on top WITH A FULL FREAKING DOUGHNUT. I tip my hat to the gluttonous culinary artist that devised this creation. Bravo.  Yes, thats approximately of a blueberry donut used as a garnish. And it is beautiful. I dipped mine in the whipped cream and it right off the bat as an appetizer. The donut, while not super fresh, was still tasty. I ...

Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter & Cookies!

Image
Every time I start thinking it's been a while since I've seen a new Ben & Jerry's flavor, I end up looking in the freezer section the next time I'm in a supermarket and end up finding one. That's exactly what happened with their new limited batch, Peanut Butter & Cookies. I had just gotten done talking to one of the fellow writers of this very website when this one jumped out at me and you can bet I bought it without a second thought!  Sounds so good, right? Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter & Cookies boasts Sweet Cream Ice cream with chocolate sandwich cookies and a crunchy peanut butter swirl. So basically, everything awesome that you could ever want in an ice cream, right? Alright, maybe not EVERYTHING. But still. Sounds pretty solid! If it's half as good as Milk & Cookies it will be a home run for sure! (If you've never tried Milk & Cookies, take a quick look at this review from the FGFB archives by our ex-writer Mike. God bless his...

Ben & Jerry's Limited Batch: Cake My Day!

Image
Every single time I go to the grocery store, I walk by the ice cream like there's an elderly couple having sex in the middle of the aisle. Not because I don't enjoy it, but because I realize that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. But because of my troubling financial circumstances I recently had to cancel my subscriptions to a few certain websites, and I needed to fill that shameful void somehow- enter Ben and Jerry's Cake My Day. Well my day was certainly caked... it was... cade... my day was cake... well... uh. The Ben and Jerry's was on sale for $1.99. So the decision to buy this ice cream was a piece of cake!!! Yeah, knew I'd find that sooner or later. Anyway, Ben and Jerry's pints for $1.99. Sometimes, Shaw's and Star Market just has unbelievably stupid deals on these pints. If you've got one in your 'hood, keep your eyes peeled. I was going to take a picture of the sign but I didn't think of it soon enough and the sale ended, so ...

Ben and Jerry's Limited Batch: New Belgium Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream!

Image
It's been a while since we've been able to get our hands on a limited batch Ben & Jerry's. So long, in fact that when I saw this one in the freezer section I plucked it out so fast that I hadn't even really registered what it was. "SALTED CARAMEL BROWNIE....Wait...BROWN-IE...ALE?" Yep. This is the latest from those insane flavor wizards in Vermont and this just might be THE weirdest flavor they have ever done. But is it good weird, or bad weird? Let's find out. Ladies and Gents, I give you, The Ben and Jerry's New Belgium Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream!  There's a lot going on with this label. Soak it all in. BEER ICE CREAM.  The idea of beer flavored ice cream is not one that excited me at first. I just couldn't imagine a way that it could be good. I've never taken a sip of a beer and said to myself, "Damn, imagine if there was ice cream flavored like this?" It's just unnatural. But I guess that's what makes ol...

Magnum Double Peanut Butter ice cream bars!

Image
Have you ever tried a Magnum Ice cream bar? Josh reviewed them when they first came out a while back.  His review was pretty hilarious but in the end he deemed them mediocre. So it was a while before any of us tried the other flavors. Then one day I decided to give the caramel ones a whirl. They changed my life. If you have never tried them, DO IT TODAY. But somehow, we never reviewed them. I think it was because by the time we tried them they were so old that we didn't think anyone would care. But I've eaten them pretty regularly since. Then, our of nowhere, I walk by the ice cream novelties cooler at my local supermarket and I see something that made me do a triple take. Sweet mother of mercy. MAGNUM DOUBLE PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM BARS.  Rub that dust out of your eyes, this isn't a mirage!  I nearly broke into a dead run on my way home because I wanted to try these away from the prying eyes of the public. But the moment I walked in I snapped a pic and ripped the box op...
