When you're the cool kind of dude who visits another country for Christmas, sometimes you pack light. Me? I had my one backpack with a few items in it,(comics, underwear, cell phone charger), and that was it. This works out great until I start buying bags of chips and an absurd amount of candy bars. I imagine people in the stores where I was buying this stuff must have thought I had just gotten out of prison or been stranded somewhere for years without sweets. I was stuffing them into my overflowing backpack like some kind of lunatic, with Loonies and Toonies clattering on the ground all around me. But in the end I somehow pulled it off and the only real casualties were one bag of chips that popped open. No big deal, I just ate them right away. But today we're going to take a quick look at all the sugar filled goodies that came back with me from our neighbor to the north! As a kid visiting Canada, there was nothing cooler than an Aero bar. I remember my mom letting me buy a few...

Being in Victoria, B.C. on the day after Christmas this year, I woke up craving a serious breakfast. I could have eaten leftovers in the hotel room or grabbed a bagel or scone at a coffee shop, but I was looking for a SERIOUS breakfast. Something tremendous. Aren't these business owners worried about missing all these sales? Apparently they care more about spending time with their loved ones and I think that's a lesson we can all learn from them. But luckily the Clay Pigeon were open, because when we strolled by and saw this door... That's about all it took to convince us. Well, that and I saw t...

Welcome to Canada week on Fatguyfoodblog! Where we showcase a some food items gotten while within the borders of our neighbors to the north. Why did we decide to do a week of Canada stuff? Well pretty much because I went up to Canada on a quick trip around the holidays and came back with a bunch of stuff I thought was super cool. So I figured you might find them cool also. So prepare yourself, For Canada Week has begun! I will most likely offend every Canadian this week but fear not, I have much love for Canada, since half of my family is from there. It's like a second home to me. Hell, I should look into dual citizenship. But until then, let's review some chips I got in Canada! First up...POUTINE RUFFLES! I had no idea these existed so when I ducked into a corner convenience store in Victoria, BC and saw them, I couldn't buy them fast enough. Tossed the shopkeep a couple of Loonies and hit the bricks.  Just in case you thought it was REAL flavor.   Every once in a while ...
